Veterinary quarantine complex established

A modern veterinary inspection, quarantine, and disinfection complex has been completed and is now fully ready for operation in the fifth khoroo of Nalaikh District, Ulaanbaatar City. The facility has been constructed with the primary objective of preventing the spread of infectious diseases carried by humans and livestock entering the capital city, while reinforcing protective measures to safeguard public health and food security in the capital.

As Ulaanbaatar continues to expand and maintain close economic ties with rural provinces, the movement of livestock, animal products, and transport vehicles into the city remains frequent. Authorities have underscored that without proper inspection and sanitation controls, such movement may increase the risk of contagious animal diseases and zoonotic infections. The newly built complex is expected to serve as a critical frontline defense point at one of the city’s major entry routes.

The single-story structure spans 480.31 square meters and measures 18.8x24 meters. Designed without a basement, the building incorporates modern standards for veterinary control, hygiene, and operational efficiency. Its layout enables streamlined inspection procedures while maintaining strict sanitation protocols.

The facility includes a checkpoint building for inspection and monitoring, a storage building, a well house, livestock holding pens, and a covered animal or livestock shelter. In addition, the complex is equipped with external water supply infrastructure, a specialized disinfection drainage system, reliable power supply connections, and landscaped outdoor improvements to ensure safe and orderly operations. Together, these components form a comprehensive system capable of conducting quarantine checks, disinfecting vehicles and equipment, and temporarily holding livestock when necessary.

Construction works were carried out by Sutai Mandakh LLC, while technical supervision on behalf of the client was overseen by the Investment Department of the Capital City to ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards.

City officials noted that the commissioning of the facility marks a significant step toward strengthening Ulaanbaatar’s biosecurity framework. By enhancing early detection, containment, and sanitation capacity, the complex is expected to reduce the risk of disease transmission, protect livestock health, and contribute to the overall well-being of residents.
