Registration for Student Soldiers program opens on March 1

Registration for the 2026 Student Soldiers military skills training program will be open from March 1 to 10. The initiative aims to provide participating students with basic military knowledge and professional discipline while fostering civic responsibility and leadership skills.

Students in the first, second, and third years of accredited higher education institutions are required to register online through the E-Mongolia digital system. Meanwhile, students from vocational and technical education institutions must submit an application together with an official school certification, written permission to participate in the program, and an academic transcript. These documents should be delivered in person to the Military Staff Office of the applicant’s respective provincial or district governor’s office for processing.

Eligibility for participation requires students to be enrolled in an accredited higher education or vocational institution and to have reached the age of 18 before June 15 of the registration year. Applicants must also demonstrate financial compliance by having paid health insurance contributions for at least the previous 12 months. Academic performance is another requirement, as students must maintain a grade point average of 2.8 or higher for the first semester of the academic year.

This year, participants will have the opportunity to choose from 13 different military specializations that allow them to acquire basic professional skills relevant to their field of study. The theoretical component of the training consists of four courses designed to provide foundational knowledge, while advancement to specialized military preparation requires students to pass an examination with a minimum score of 60 points.

Authorities emphasize that the 2026 program places greater focus on cultivating patriotic values and civic awareness alongside technical military training. Since its introduction in 2014, the Student Soldiers initiative has trained more than 10,000 students, providing young participants with valuable skills and a deeper understanding of national service. For 2026, officials plan to increase the annual quota to 2,000 participants, expanding opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience and personal development.

The program continues to serve as a bridge between academic education and civic responsibility, equipping young people with discipline and leadership qualities that can benefit both their professional careers and society at large.
