HPV vaccination campaign reaches over 50,000 children in UB

In accordance with the Government of Mongolia’s Resolution No. 472, focused on revising and approving the national immunization plan, the country launched its human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination program in 2024. The initiative has successfully reached 50,138 children across the capital city.

To strengthen and expand the vaccination effort, the Ministry of Health and related agencies have been collaborating closely with local government authorities and implementing organizations in Ulaanbaatar City. This coordinated approach aims to increase vaccine coverage and ensure the program reaches its target population.

In partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the capital city carried out a month-long campaign to vaccinate schoolchildren of the target age group, with the goal of achieving at least 90 percent coverage. The campaign resulted in a 10.4 percent increase in vaccination coverage, demonstrating significant progress in public health outreach and community mobilization.

The campaign’s success was made possible through the active participation of local health institutions and the leadership and support of 22 state-owned schools in Ulaanbaatar. Their commitment played a crucial role in reaching and protecting more children against HPV infection.
