Measles cases reach over 13,500

According to the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD), 13,546 measles cases have been confirmed in Mongolia as of October 30. Currently, nine patients remain hospitalized, all in moderate condition, while there are no severe or critical cases. Health officials report that 13,527 people have recovered, and 11 deaths have been recorded since the outbreak began.

NCCD also noted that 96,794 individuals have been identified as close contacts of infected patients. The disease has affected children aged 10 to 14 most severely, with 5,074 cases reported in this age group. Meanwhile, 3,111 cases have been recorded among children aged zero to four, 1,738 among those aged five to nine, and 1,695 among 15- to 19-year-olds.

Experts warn that measles is one of the most contagious infectious diseases, but it is entirely preventable through vaccination. Health authorities are urging the public to check their vaccination status and ensure their information is properly registered in the national immunization database at their local family or soum health centers. Those who have missed their measles vaccine are encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.
