On September 20, the National Park became the focal point of a major environmental initiative as more than 10,000 young volunteers gathered to launch the “Clean Up–2025” campaign. Centered on the restoration of the Tuul River and surrounding green spaces, the effort marked one of the largest youth-led volunteer activities in the capital city this year.
The event was not limited to the physical task of waste collection. Organizers emphasized that the campaign carried a broader purpose—to showcase the unity, civic responsibility, and determination of Mongolia’s younger generation in addressing environmental challenges and contributing to social change.
“This day was about far more than simply picking up litter,” the organizers noted. “It demonstrated how collective action, especially when driven by children and young people, can strengthen community ties and inspire others to take responsibility for their environment.”
Participants included schoolchildren, university students, and young professionals who worked side by side along the riverbanks and park grounds. Their joint effort underscored the idea that protecting the environment is not only an individual duty but also a shared commitment that requires collaboration across all levels of society.
The campaign formed part of a wider movement to encourage sustainable practices and active citizenship in Ulaanbaatar City. Organizers expressed hope that the initiative would inspire residents to adopt more environmentally conscious habits, reduce waste, and recognize the long-term value of collective civic action.
By the end of the day, the visible improvements around the Tuul River stood as a testament to what could be achieved through unity and volunteerism. The success of “Clean Up–2025” reaffirmed the readiness of Mongolia’s youth to play an active role in safeguarding both their city and the natural environment for future generations.
