Over 10,000 runners have registered for the upcoming “Ulaanbaatar Marathon”, scheduled to take place on May 24. Among them, the majority have chosen the five km race, while thousands more are preparing for the 10 km, half marathon, and full marathon distances. This year, participants in the five km, 21 km, and 42 km races will follow updated routes through central Ulaanbaatar City, with the five km course beginning at Sukhbaatar Square and weaving past prominent city landmarks before finishing along Peace Avenue. Longer-distance runners will also navigate a new path that loops around major intersections and commercial areas before returning to the capital city center.

To ensure safety throughout the event, multiple medical teams will be stationed along the route. Authorities have urged individuals with underlying health conditions, recent symptoms of illness, extreme weight conditions, or those outside the recommended age range to avoid participating in the longer races. All runners are encouraged to consult their family doctors beforehand.

In conjunction with the “Car-Free Day” initiative, public transportation will undergo temporary route changes to accommodate the marathon. Bus lines that typically pass through central streets will be rerouted, and electric bicycles and motorcycles will be restricted from road use during the event.
