Law enforcement authorities in Mongolia have uncovered a case involving three Mongolian citizens suspected of smuggling psychotropic substances into the country from Germany through international postal services and selling them to others. Police and intelligence agencies have launched an investigation into the case.
Authorities seized two kilograms and 625.4 grams of psychotropic substances with a high concentration of THC, as well as 600 grams of substances containing MDMA, equivalent to 1,230 units, according to the investigation.
The seized substances include compounds listed under Schedule II of the United Nations’ 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances. Authorities said they had disrupted the illegal circulation of substances equivalent to a total of 2,105 doses.
Smuggling narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances across Mongolia’s borders is considered a serious criminal offense under the country’s Law on Infringement, as such activities pose significant risks to public health, human life, the genetic heritage of the population and national security.
