MSE reports nearly 23 billion MNT in net profit

Acting CEO of Mongolian Stock Exchange JSC (MSE) D.Munkhbat, a company listed in Category I of the exchange, presented the company’s 2026 first-half operating and financial report on July 27.

During the presentation, he highlighted the strategic measures implemented to strengthen financial performance, increase market activity and support the continued growth of the capital market. The report showed significant growth in trading activity and improved financial results compared with the same period of the previous year.

In the first half of 2026, total trading value on the Exchange reached nearly 6.73 trillion MNT. Of this amount, mining products accounted for approximately 5.9 trillion MNT, while shares of 162 listed companies were traded for nearly 144.17 billion MNT. Corporate and local government bonds recorded trading worth approximately 474.73 billion MNT, government securities reached nearly 137.82 billion MNT through 51 trades, asset-backed securities totaled approximately 68.43 billion MNT, and investment fund units recorded trading value of nearly 1.38 billion MNT.

Compared with the first half of 2025, the primary market trading volume of bonds increased by 1,378 percent, while secondary market trading of shares grew by 26.2 percent. The primary market trading of non-bank financial company securities increased by 116.9 percent, and secondary market bond trading rose by 79 percent. Meanwhile, secondary market trading of asset-backed securities declined by 71.4 percent, and investment fund unit trading decreased by 68.9 percent.

Trading activity in mining products also saw significant growth. Compared with the same period last year, mining product trading increased by 687 percent, with iron ore and concentrate trading rising by 9.3 percent and copper trading increasing by 193.6 percent. However, secondary market trading of iron ore and concentrate declined by 100 percent.

MSE share price also recorded growth during the reporting period, increasing by 38.73 percent, compared with the same period of 2025. The share price closed at 368.29 MNT per share. As of the second quarter of 2026, the MSE’s total revenue reached approximately 30.8 billion MNT. Operating income amounted to nearly 7.6 billion MNT, while interest income accounted for approximately 23.2 billion MNT. During the same period, operating expenses totaled nearly 3.4 billion MNT, including current expenses of approximately 742 million MNT, information technology expenses of nearly 938 million MNT, operational support expenses of approximately 115 million MNT, and non-operating expenses of nearly 151 million MNT. After accounting for income tax of approximately 2.6 billion MNT, the exchange reported a net profit of nearly 23 billion MNT. The first-half net profit represents an increase of approximately 10.9 billion MNT, or nearly 91 percent, compared with the nearly 12 billion MNT net profit recorded in the second quarter of 2025.

As part of efforts to increase liquidity in the capital market, MSE revised its Market Maker Operating Procedures to improve the market-making system by clarifying responsibilities, introducing trading fee discounts, providing free information services, and expanding opportunities for market participants.

The exchange also continued work to establish an environment for short selling and securities lending, introduce new products, indices, and services and strengthen public financial and capital market education. In addition, measures were implemented to improve market data systems, reporting mechanisms, and information transparency to further enhance the efficiency and accessibility of the capital market.
