Under Clause 2 of Presidential Decree No. 44, the Government of Mongolia has designated all Saturdays and Sundays in May and September each year as “National Tree Planting Days” in order to accelerate the nationwide “Billion Trees” movement.
This year’s campaign has been launched across the country under the slogan Everything Given to Nature Returns, officially starting on April 28. The initiative is being implemented nationwide with the aim of encouraging citizens, organizations, and businesses to take part in expanding green spaces and strengthening environmental restoration efforts.
As part of the ongoing activities, seedling fairs and coordinated tree-planting events are being organized in several locations across Ulaanbaatar City, where public participation has been actively encouraged.
In Bayanzurkh District, the event is taking place in the Jukov area, while Nalaikh District is hosting its activities at Nalaikh Cultural Palace Square. Meanwhile, Khan-Uul District is organizing its program at Central Stadium, and Chingeltei District has centered its activities at Barilgachdiin Talbai.
At Barilgachdiin Talbai, a large-scale seedling exhibition and sales event is currently underway, bringing together 21 individual growers and 11 enterprises engaged in nursery and plant production. The exhibition features more than 100 types of products, including coniferous and deciduous trees, ornamental shrubs, seedlings, indoor and outdoor flowers, as well as vegetable seeds, offering a wide selection for both households and organizations interested in planting activities.
Officials have emphasized that tree planting plays a crucial role not only in expanding urban greenery but also in reducing air pollution, preventing soil degradation, and mitigating the impacts of climate change. Citizens are therefore being strongly encouraged to take part in the campaign together with their families, colleagues, and friends, contributing to national efforts to create a greener and more sustainable environment.
