The “Nomads” World Cultural Festival, a grand celebration of Mongolia’s rich traditions, is set to take place for the fourth year from August 22 to 24 at the scenic Taij Khairkhan in Nalaikh District of Ulaanbaatar City. This year, the event will feature a major highlight–the 17th World Horseback Archery Championship (WHAC), marking a significant milestone in the festival’s history.
The World Horseback Archery Championship is one of the festival’s key attractions, bringing together the finest horseback archers from around the globe. For the first time, the traditional Mongolian archery event “Bumbug Namnaa” will be included in the competition, showcasing the unique and historical archery methods practiced by the Mongol people for centuries.
The festival’s organizers emphasized that the inclusion of Bumbug Namnaa in the international championship adds a unique twist to the event, reinforcing Mongolia’s deep-rooted connection to horseback archery and its growing influence in global sporting circles. Archers will not only compete in traditional events but will also experience the immersive cultural atmosphere of the festival, which highlights the nomadic lifestyle that defines Mongolian heritage.
More than 170 elite archers from approximately 30 countries are expected to participate in the championship, competing for the coveted title. Mongolia will be well-represented, with 15 top archers set to showcase their remarkable skills in the competition.
