Flags of 24 nations dedicated to the cause of global peace were raised in unison at the Tavantolgoi-based Training Center of the Mongolian Armed Forces, marking the official opening of the international peacekeeping exercise Khaan Quest 2025.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Parliament B.Purevdorj, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Major General S.Ganbyamba, senior officials from the Ministry of Defense, and commanders of various branches of the armed forces, heads of law enforcement agencies, ambassadors and military attachés accredited to Mongolia, as well as peacekeepers from the 24 participating countries and representatives of national and international media.
In his keynote address, Deputy Speaker B.Purevdorj emphasized the growing importance of international solidarity and shared responsibility in the face of an increasingly complex and uncertain global security environment. He also welcomed the foreign military personnel participating in the exercise to Mongolia, expressing hope that they will not only expand their skills and operational capabilities through joint training but also experience the rich nomadic traditions, cultural heritage, and hospitality of the Mongolian people—memories that will stay with them long after they return to their homelands.
First launched as a bilateral training initiative between Mongolia and the United States, Khaan Quest has since grown into a fully-fledged multinational exercise with international status. Over the years, it has involved nearly 20,000 military personnel from more than 70 countries, evolving into one of the most significant regional platforms for enhancing peacekeeping capacity, fostering friendship, and building mutual military trust.
The annual exercise continues to deepen cooperation among nations committed to peacekeeping, offering practical training in UN-mandated operations and reinforcing global efforts toward peace and stability.
