Students shine at European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad

The European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad, established in 2012, has become a beacon of opportunity for talented young girls with a passion for mathematics. The competition provides a unique platform to foster growth, development, and excellence among young female mathematicians worldwide.

This year’s 14th olympiad was held in Pristina, Kosovo, from April 11 to 17. 229 exceptional young women from 55 countries competed in a series of rigorous mathematical challenges, testing their skills in problem-solving, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking.

Mongolia’s team of bright young mathematicians made an impressive mark at the event, bringing home three bronze medals and one special award. N.Bolor from Erdmiin Khishig School, A.Misheel from Orchlon School, and A.Anu from the School No. 11 of Ulaanbaatar City each earned bronze medals for their outstanding performances. Meanwhile, B.Oyunbilig from Kharkhorin School was honored with a special award for her exceptional efforts.

These remarkable achievements helped Mongolia secure 33rd place out of 56 participating nations. This success underscores the immense talent and potential of Mongolia’s young women in mathematics and science.

The results of this year’s competition reflect a wider commitment to empowering young girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, and are a testament to the strength of educational initiatives that aim to provide equal opportunities for young women to thrive in traditionally male-dominated disciplines.
