The Road and Transportation Development Center has announced that the transportation of non-divisible cargo exceeding the permitted maximum weight will be temporarily suspended. In accordance with Clause 5.2 of the MNS 4598:2025 standard, “General Requirements for the Classification and Technical Condition of Road Vehicles”, the transportation of non-divisible cargo exceeding the permitted maximum limits will be suspended from October 15 to November 15.

According to the center, as the cold season approaches and temperatures begin to fall, the surface layers of the ground and road embankments freeze, while moisture accumulates. These conditions significantly reduce the load-bearing capacity of roads and can compromise their structural strength. As a result, roads become more susceptible to deformation and damage under the pressure of heavy vehicles and oversized loads.

The authority therefore urged individuals, businesses and organisations involved in cargo transportation to comply with the temporary restrictions and observe the permitted weight limits. The measure is expected to help prevent unnecessary damage to roads and related infrastructure during a period when road conditions are particularly vulnerable.

Individuals, businesses and organisations that transport overweight cargo during the suspension period and cause damage to roads or related infrastructure will be required to compensate for the resulting damage in accordance with relevant laws. The temporary measure is intended to protect the condition and durability of the country’s road network during the colder months and reduce the risk of costly damage caused by overloaded transportation.
