Model agreement established with GlobE Network

A delegation from Mongolia’s Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC), led by Chairman and Chief Commissioner Z.Dashdavaa, participated in the seventh plenary meeting of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network), held in Vienna, Austria, from August 25 to 28.

The plenary meeting brought together representatives of anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies from around the world to discuss the network’s ongoing development and strengthen international cooperation in combating corruption, particularly cross-border corruption offences. Key issues discussed included reforms to the GlobE Network’s operations, the review and adoption of its annual report, and the confirmation of observer status for newly nominated organizations. Participants also received presentations on the concepts of the GlobE Network’s Expert Institute and the “GlobE Compass,” as well as the second edition of the Compendium of Informal Cooperation Practices in Transnational Corruption Cases.

As part of the plenary, GlobE Network members agreed to strengthen direct information-sharing mechanisms among their respective law enforcement authorities. In this context, IAAC Chairman Z.Dashdavaa signed a model agreement establishing a legal framework for cooperation between law enforcement agencies of GlobE Network member countries. The agreement is expected to facilitate the rapid, direct and secure exchange of information related to corruption offences, particularly transnational cases, while enabling participating authorities to provide mutual assistance in investigations and other enforcement activities.

The Mongolian delegation also held a bilateral meeting with Daniel Murphy, Head of the International Anti-Corruption Coordination Centre, based in the United Kingdom, and other officials. The two sides exchanged views on expanding future cooperation and strengthening coordination in the fight against international and cross-border corruption.
