What if the city could speak, not through its traffic and concrete, but through the emotions it leaves behind? Every day, we move through the same streets, pass the same buildings and hear the same familiar noise, yet rarely stop to consider what lies beneath the surface of urban life. Behind the rush are stories of solitude, connection, uncertainty and hope, quiet experiences that often go unnoticed. “Echoes of the City”, a group exhibition featuring seven emerging Mongolian artists, marks the first official exhibition of UsegToo, a collective established by young artists seeking to create, learn and grow together.
UsegToo was formed in October 2025 around a simple question: Why should artists always create alone? The collective brings together young artists who have been pursuing their individual creative paths, with the belief that working collectively can help them develop more quickly, support one another and reach wider audiences with their artistic voices. The group’s debut exhibition turns its attention to the city—the place that surrounds and shapes everyday life.
The city moves according to its own rhythm. People hurry from one destination to another, traffic fills the streets, buildings continue to rise with little planning, while moments of loneliness, encounters and hope unfold alongside them. Amid this constant movement, the exhibition asks visitors to consider what they fail to notice in their daily lives and what experiences remain quietly within them.
“Echoes of the City” presents seven different perspectives on the same urban environment. Through their works, the artists explore not only city life and contemporary society but also the emotions and inner experiences of the people living within them. The exhibition expands beyond the collective’s seven members through the participation of a guest artist from Germany and a guest singer-songwriter. Their contributions introduce music alongside visual art, creating a space where different artistic forms can interact and speak to one another.
Painting, animation, photography, installation and design are among the mediums represented in the exhibition. Rather than presenting a single interpretation of the city, the works reveal how differently the same urban landscape can be observed, experienced and remembered.
In this sense, the exhibition serves as both a debut and a statement of purpose for the young collective. It suggests that artistic development does not necessarily have to be a solitary journey, and that collaboration can create new ways for emerging artists to experiment and communicate with audiences. The sounds of the city surround us every day, often becoming so familiar that we no longer notice them. Through “Echoes of the City”, the artists invite visitors to pause and reconsider those sounds until August 30 at the B Contemporary Art Gallery, not simply by listening to them, but by seeing, feeling and reflecting on the city from different perspectives.
