False or non-genuine reports dominate

Mongolia’s Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs S.Amarsaikhan visited the Information and Rapid Response Command Center of the Mongolian National Police Agency to assess its operations and capacity.

According to data provided by the center, it handles an average of more than 8,500 calls daily, amounting to over three million calls annually. However, officials h ighlighted a significant challenge: approximately 70 percent of these calls are false or non-genuine reports, placing considerable strain on personnel and resources. Staff members also noted that the center is operating under staffing shortages while managing an increasingly heavy workload.

In line with a government resolution, Mongolia is preparing to align its emergency response system with international standards by transitioning to a unified emergency number—112. Once implemented nationwide, the 112 system will enable citizens to report crimes, violations, floods, and other water-related hazards, as well as request urgent medical assistance from anywhere at any time, ensuring faster and more coordinated emergency responses.

During the visit, the minister instructed the leadership and staff of the center to intensify preparations for adopting the 112 system and to prioritize its effective implementation. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of systematically recording incoming calls and conducting data analysis to support proactive crime prevention efforts, signaling a shift toward more intelligence-led policing practices.
