Government introduces new initiative to boost ICT industry development

The Ministry of Digital Development and Communications has announced the launch of the Information and Communications Industry Development Project, an initiative aimed at strengthening Mongolia’s digital sector and supporting innovation in the technology industry.

The project will be implemented in collaboration with the National Information Technology Park and Deloitte Tohmatsu Group of Japan, with technical assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Through this partnership, the program seeks to promote sustainable growth in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector and improve cooperation between stakeholders.

Under the initiative, several sub-projects will be carried out across five key priority areas. These include strengthening collaboration between the government and the private sector, improving the legal and regulatory environment for the ICT industry, enhancing the global competitiveness of Mongolian technology companies, supporting the growth of start-ups, and promoting the adoption of emerging technologies such as open data, big data, and artificial intelligence.

The official launch event for the project will take place on March 19 at the National Information Technology Park. Government representatives, private sector organizations, and businesses interested in contributing to the project’s five focus areas are invited to attend.

Participants will also have the opportunity to join specialized sub-working groups aligned with each focus area. These groups aim to bring together stakeholders with shared goals, enabling them to discuss industry challenges, share perspectives, and collaborate on practical solutions to advance Mongolia’s ICT sector.
