Implementation of human rights laws underlined

The Human Rights Subcommittee of the Parliament convened with focuses on reviewing the implementation of human rights provisions under the Law on the Legal Status of Human Rights Defenders and the Law on Disaster Protection. Officials highlighted the need for state institutions at all levels to strengthen compliance with these laws, integrate human rights considerations into action plans and programs, and provide regular reporting.

Members actively discussed the findings and raised questions regarding current challenges in law enforcement. Chairman of the Subcommittee and Member of the Parliament S.Erdenebold emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Standing Committee on Justice, the Human Rights Subcommittee, and the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia. The goal is to identify underlying causes of outstanding issues and ensure full implementation of human rights legislation.

The session also addressed recommendations for improving the application of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, including measures to enhance accessibility and protection for persons with disabilities.

The subcommittee concluded the meeting by presenting its annual activity report and outlining its work plans for the coming year, underscoring its commitment to strengthening human rights oversight across Mongolia.
