Secretary General of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) B.Saruul represented the country at the International Regional Policy Conference on Supply Chains and Decent Work, held in Bangkok last week.

The conference, organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO) Office for Asia and the Pacific, brought together government representatives, international organizations, business membership organizations, researchers and policy experts to address pressing issues related to labor markets and supply chain sustainability.

On the sidelines of the event, Secretary General B.Saruul held an official meeting with ILO Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Kaori Nakamura-Osaka. The two leaders discussed Mongolia’s key economic challenges and opportunities, with a focus on strengthening the private sector, expanding employment, particularly for youth, and advancing the role of the digital economy in national development.

The conference also featured a presentation by Director of the ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team for East and South-East Asia and the Pacific Xiaoyan Qian, and her team, who examined the current state of the Mongolian labor market. Their presentation highlighted issues, challenges and opportunities for greater business participation in shaping decent work policies. The discussions emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing labor market concerns and promoting sustainable, inclusive growth.

In addition, Secretary General B.Saruul met Regional Director for the Implementation of the UN Global Compact Neha Das. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to ensure that Mongolian companies continue to align with the Compact’s 10 Principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, while deepening the country’s engagement with global sustainability standards.
