A monument honoring the memory of Mongolia’s Labor Hero, State Honored Athlete, Olympic Silver Medalist, World Championship Bronze Medalist, and Dalai Dayan Darkhan Avarga (Grand Champion) J.Munkhbat has been temporarily installed outside the National Sports Stadium in Ulaanbaatar City.
The sculpture was created by Artist J.Tumenchuluun and was officially unveiled during a ceremony scheduled for June 3. A bust of the late champion was erected in 2023 in his birthplace, Erdenesant soum of Tuv Province, as a tribute to his remarkable legacy. Now, in a continued effort to honor his memory, his family and children have commissioned the installation of this illuminated monument in the capital city.
Erdenesant soum, along with its school—one of the oldest in the country—celebrated its centennial anniversary two years ago. As part of the festivities marking the school’s 100th year, a bust of the legendary wrestler was unveiled to pay homage to the native son whose strength and discipline left an indelible mark on Mongolia’s wrestling tradition.
