World-Class motorsport athletes arrived for ‘Power Expo & Festival’

As Mongolia marks the centennial of its road transportation industry, Ulaanbaatar City is set to host the international “Power Expo & Festival” starting tomorrow and continuing through May 11. Co-organized by the Office of the Capital Governor, the Mongolian Professional Sports Car Association, and VIP Auto Club, the event brings together top-tier drivers and riders from seven countries. Among the notable arrivals are Japan’s Akinori Utsumi—one of the D1 Grand Prix top drifters—accompanied by five fellow athletes and a judge. Last year, Akinori Utsumi competed at the same event but narrowly lost to the Chinese team. This year, the Japanese team is back, ready for a rematch with their full arsenal of vehicles.

South Korea’s Southeast Asian champion Si Hyun and drifter Sanghwa Lee, as well as U.S. motorsport athlete and model Sara Choi, have also landed in Ulaanbaatar City. Sara Choi will compete in the “International Drift Cup” and serve as a guest judge for Mongolia’s first-ever “Racing Top Model” competition.

The festival will kick off with motorcycle races including Moto Day-MotoGP, MopedGP, E-bike, Cruiser, and Kids Enduro. On May 10, amateur and professional drifters will compete, leading to the grand “International Drift Cup” team showdown on the final day.

Alongside the adrenaline-fueled races, the event will feature an auto and motorcycle expo, extreme sports challenges, product exhibitions, and live music—offering a dynamic mix of speed, style, and entertainment.
