The first round of the 2025 mandatory military conscription is being carried out across Ulaanbaatar from May 2 to 4, according to the Office of the Capital Governor. Colonel G.Yalalt, Head of the Military Staff at the Governor’s Office, provided details about the upcoming draft.

He noted that conscripts will be assigned to both border protection and internal security military units. Organizing the draft is a complex, multi-agency effort that involves coordination among ministries, government agencies, and various administrative bodies. Under the Government’s latest resolution, university students in their first, second, and third years will be eligible to serve in the student-soldier program, while final-year students will be exempt from the draft.

Those summoned for conscription are required to bring essential identification and educational documents with them, including their national ID, military service record card, and any relevant professional certificates or diplomas. Upon arrival at the recruitment centers, conscripts will undergo a comprehensive medical examination, which includes eight types of health screenings to determine their eligibility for service.

In Ulaanbaatar City, the draft will take place at designated schools in each district. In Bayangol District, the conscription center will be located at School No. 96, in Bayanzurkh District at School No. 14, in Chingeltei District at School No. 5,  in Khan-Uul District at School No. 34, in Songinokhairkhan District at School No. 83, and in Sukhbaatar District at School No. 3.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of arriving on time and being properly prepared, as the draft is a matter of national duty and responsibility.
